What it does it does well. And it looks good doing it.

There is a lot to like about this Russell Hobbs 8 cup coffeemaker. First off, it makes a nice cup of coffee. Compared to my Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Brushed Metal , another cone filter drip coffee maker, the Russell Hobbs makes a similar cup of coffee using the same grind and the same amount. They both efficiently use the coffee to brew a nice strong cup at about the same speed (for 8 cups). Where the Russell Hobbs leaves the Cuisinart behind is in ease of use. The removable water reservoir is so much nicer than the nearly blind tank filling required for the Cuisinart. As for looks, the Russell Hobbs is very sleek and shiny while the Cuisinart is really Stainless steel on the face plate and sides. They both have carafes that pour drip free effortlessly. What the Russell Hobbs does not have is any function other than on and off. This is a one button coffeemaker like the days of old. No adjustments for stronger coffee or to change the hot plate temperature. Although I don't use programming for timed brewing (I grind my beans fresh for every cup), that is also lacking. I find the 8 cup size perfect for one or two people but you lose the flexibility of a 12 cup maker without a big savings on the counter footprint for the Russell Hobbs. At the time of this review, there is no pricing available for the Russell Hobbs, making a value for the money comparison impossible. I will venture to say that I would pass on the maker if it retails for more than approximately $50. $60 tops If I just had to have the distinctive styling.

Hot coffee. Clean. Simple. Gorgeous.

My only issues is that 1--I can't see the water level # from the front of the machine. 2--the shiny chromey plastic shows smudges easily. I DO love how hot the coffee is and I DO love the unique shape of the glass carafe. Sometimes it's just nice to have something different.

great coffee maker
