Great Flavor, Temperature and Relatively Easy to Use
Tak-Seng Lodro

NOTE: I was concerned about the seller of this machine but after doing some research on the DeLonghi site, they use the same seller/shipper, which put me at ease.Overall:Worth the cost despite some very minor shortcomings. I'm super picky about coffee and brewing machines and this gets 4.75 stars from me.Details:For those who don't want a long review to sift through here are the bulletsPros:Front Load as advertised, no need to open the machine up unless you need to cleanInsulated pot keeps it hot!Warmer plate ensures hot coffee from the startMetallic finish (my preference) matches the kitchen and DeLonghi Espresso MachineAuto Feature for morning brewsIndicator for DecalcifyingMetal filter ensures great flavor with very fine mesh for no grounds in coffeeTop warmer plate allows for warming coffee cup w/ room to spare under cabinetsWater Filter included for removing chlorineCons:Water Level indicator on the side, not viewable from frontMetal filter could use numbers for easier measuringTimer in 24 hour only - makes for a longer adjustment when changing the auto brew time"Metallic" front is really plasticWater Filter does not act like a Britta/Pur so you'll want to do that beforehandDetails:I researched different machines and their reviews like crazy before settling on this one. It's tough to find a 12cup coffee maker with a thermol pot but this has it all. I've owned this for about a month now and it brews wonderful coffee and I'm a coffee snob, especially since I've worked at Starbucks. I had reluctantly switched to cheaper beans and on my old machine the brew was okay (a Starbucks machine similar to this one) but after using this machine the flavor improved, in addition to the temperature. So far this is a wonderful machine. The metal filter feels quite delicate but it's holding up nicely. It's mesh is finer than I'm used to and I appreciate it because it means that the grounds don't fall through. However, I do think this contributes to the increased likelihood of the filter overflowing during brewing if you've added a lot of grounds. However, despite me doing this I've encountered no problems. If you fill the filter about 2/3-3/4 it'll hit it's limit, so I've found. I'd suggest playing around with it after you first get it and see how it works out. Despite loading the machine up I haven't had any overfill problems. As for the water, it has a filter in the back to remove chlorine for better flavor. A nice touch but it's a bit of a pain to install/remove. I don't plan to replace the one it came with when it's time is up because I use a Britta pitcher anyway. As for the water level marker...I think DeLonghi might have missed that in the design. The machine can be loaded completely from the front but you can't see the level from the front! :) Woops I have mine at a 45 degree angle which helps solve this problem. It's still nice not to have to pull the machine out to load the water though, like I did on my previous machine.Thermol pot...I just love these. Keeps the coffee hot for quite a while (few hours at least) and the warmer ensures that the coffee is hot right from the get go. The warmer activates for about 60 minutes and then turns off but no worries, it keeps it all hot for a while. For me, I go through a pot on a Saturday over several hours and this does just fine. I use a travel thermol mug even at home so I don't use the warmer but it seems to do a great job.The top is removable so you can clean this lovely machine. However, it is a little disappointing that the "metallic" surface is not really stainless steal. On this note, I think it's priced just a touch high given this short cut. However, I'd still buy the sucker all over again. Regardless, the machine will tell you when to decalcify it and I really appreciate that. I haven't been so good about doing this on previous machines but I ordered a couple of different products to help me do this. One is made by Durgol and the other is Dezcal. Both have gotten good reviews so hopefully they hold true as I'd like to baby this machine so it lasts.Hope you have a great experience with this machine like I have so far. If something goes horribly wrong with it that alters my review I'll be sure to provide an update.

Great Coffee Maker And Beautiful Too!

I love, love this coffee maker and the coffee is just delicious every time. I have received many compliments not only about the looks of the coffee maker but the brewed coffee as well.I am very particular about the ease of use and this is easy. I like the pull out tubs which makes it easy to store and fill under your cabinets. This one is a winner and I highly recommend it!

Some flaws but overall I recommend it

I like the design and style and would buy it again. I was concerned about the swingout waterfill thing, but that is pretty slick. The coffee filter sometimes get caught on the handle for the plastic piece below it (when I'm taking it out, but really not a big deal). My issues:1. I can't get the coffee to come out strong enough, even with the Aroma setting on. I use the exact same coffee/water ratio as past machies, but it brews too weak. So I find I'm having to use more coffee (10-20% more?), which is costly over time.2. Someone else mentioned the waterfill gauge on the side of the machine. I totally agree - it is in a stupid place, and I have to move the unit every time I make coffee to see where I'm at. Aargh. That being said, I _love_ the carafe and the lid,and I have never had a leak, which is why I bought this one. I had an expensive Cuisinart before, and it was terrible - it would clog up and drip coffee all over the counter frequently.Hopefully Delonghi will move the water gauge and fix the brew strength, and then I'll have to buy another one. Overall I'm a fan, and recommend the unit.
